Because it's genuinely our own home base, not a marketing framing. We hold a single IATA Cargo Agent accreditation, headquartered in Halifax — Kuala Lumpur is our operational origin-side office, not a second accredited entity. Why does Halifax only show 6 origin connections when Toronto shows 13?

Accepted Answer

Real data, not an oversight — Korean Air currently runs the only confirmed freighter service into YHZ from this network (3x weekly, year-round, via Seoul/ICN), carrying Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Bangkok, Manila, Hanoi, and Ho Chi Minh City-origin cargo. It's a genuinely single-carrier, single-hub network into Halifax, unlike the multi-carrier breadth Toronto and Vancouver have — we're not going to dress that up as broader than it is.

Is the Korean Air YHZ freighter really built for inbound cargo, or mostly outbound?

Accepted Answer

Primarily outbound — the freighter's core business is Nova Scotia lobster and seafood moving out to Asia via Seoul. Inbound capacity from KUL/SIN/BKK/MNL/HAN/SGN is available on the same rotation, which is what makes these 6 routes real and bookable, but don't expect the frequency or promotional focus of a route built primarily for this direction.

Does Halifax's small cargo volume mean it's a minor gateway for UAL?

Accepted Answer

The opposite, in the one sense that matters most — YHZ's 26,200-tonne annual volume is genuinely small next to Toronto's 441,500 tonnes, but it's where our accreditation and CASS settlement live, so every shipment on this entire network — however it physically routes — settles through Halifax's IATA relationship. Physical cargo volume and settlement authority are two different things here.

What CBSA process applies to cargo arriving via the YHZ/Seoul freighter?

Accepted Answer

The same national CBSA examination that applies at every Canadian gateway — commercial invoice, HS classification, and any Certificate of Origin where a CPTPP claim is made (Malaysia, Singapore, and Vietnam-origin cargo on this specific routing are CPTPP-eligible; Thailand, Philippines, and Indonesia aren't).
